Good morning and, yes, it’s Monday...
The inauguration of President Obama is just days away. But, there is another auspicious day approaching. Israel will electing a new leader and it’s likely their new leader will be their present leader. Benjamin Netanyahu.
Now, on a Monday morning, we are more concerned with getting that first cup of coffee, getting the kids off to school and navigating the horrendous traffic. But, not many realize that our most valued ally in the tumultuous Middle East is ever more vulnerable due to the deteriorated relationship between Obama and Netanyahu. It’s well known that BiBi and Barack simply don’t like each other. The basis for this dislike can be speculated upon, but the fact remains that this disconnect can cost both nations dearly.
The blatant encroachment of Israel’s enemies and the patent approval of most nations around the globe for these actions requires a stronger alliance between the two democracies. Instead, we will see more strain leading to a greater chance of true devolution into military fisticuffs between Israel and her regional bullies. What remains to be seen will be whether the Obama led United States will set aside personal animus and remain a stalwart ally and truly have Israel’s back. I don’t think that even Vegas would be willing to lay those odds.
