Tom Brady will be a Patriot for life. There is no doubt that Brady is one of the elites, if not the best quarterback in the NFL. I am not a huge fan of NE, but I love what Brady did with his contract. He signed a three-year-deal with worth about $53 million. Yes, it’s staggering. But, he could have earned more than double that on the free-agent market. However, in order for him to stay, the team had to offer a substantially lower amount to Brady in order to meet the salary cap. It’s refreshing to see that Brady, and others like him, will forego personal remuneration in supporting ownership to improve the overall team. But, would Brady have left even if offered a more obscene number? I doubt it very much. This will be Brady’s last contract and he probably didn’t want to go the way of Namath and Montana in clinging on to a career with an inconsequential team.
Mayor Caldwell announced plans to fix Oahu roads. I commend the public commitment, but we’ve seen and heard all of this before. I will give Kirk the benefit of the doubt, though. But, he will have to prove his commitment with an annual dollar amount of over $50 million per year while NOT shifting revenues to rail. If there is a discernable improvement in road quality, I will be first in line to congratulate the Mayor. But, if there is another systemic failure of completing what was promised, I’ll be the first to remind all voters that we have another politician who will say and do anything to get elected. I hope this isn’t the case...
