Happy Easter Monday!

Yes, Easter Monday is an actual holiday..no kidding. The idea was to get the post-Easter celebrations underway. This is found in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox religions. That’s why most Catholic schools are out today. But, I am still basking from yesterday and the celebration of Easter. I had such a wonderful day with family and friends, especially at Mass. We attended St. Augustine’s in Waikiki and it was just beautiful. First of all, the church is beautiful. Malia Zimmerman’s (of Hawaii Reporter) dad or grandfather designed the building. Secondly, Father Lane Akiona is simply the best. His message to a diverse group was inspiring and ecumenical. Plus, the choir was excellent and the Hula Halau which performed was so entertaining. But, just the sheer contemplation of the impact of the Passion culminating with His rising on Easter morning is nothing short of miraculous. I hope that you had a wonderful Easter, too, and that His blessings touch you and yours everyday.
Aloha Friday one and all!
For Christians around the world, today is a somber day. Good Friday, the day when Christ was crucified, symbolizes so much to so many. I had the chance to play excerpts from “Jesus Christ, Superstar” on the show today and had some interesting feedback. One message was critical of the choice condemning the Andrew Lloyd Weber/Tim Rice collaboration as “blasphemous.” But, another friend texted me to say it was refreshing to hear a rendition of music that focused on Christ and the day. Regardless of your opinion, there is no doubt that Christianity generates tremendous amounts of reaction, one way or the other. And that’s the beauty of the gospel. We are charged to utilize the logic and critical thinking abilities bestowed upon us. The Lord wants us to think for ourselves and to come to our own conclusions. That’s the essence of free will. When His creation willfully and genuinely praise, worship and adore Him from a place of true faith, there is nothing that pleases Him more. If one rejects His word, that does not mean the Lord turns His back and allows the non-believer to perish. As a matter of fact, nothing gives Him greater joy than to see one who was once faithless to become faithful. And, for no other reason that his/her intelligence, logic and critical thinking (and original gift from God) has brought him/her to the conclusion that all things are possible with Jesus Christ. I hope you have a blessed Easter and, regardless of your beliefs, please know that you are loved and cherished by the one who bore the pain, death and resurrection to save us all.
I love cars. But, I don’t love them when they break down. There is nothing more frustrating than when something unexpected happens to your ride and you’re left wondering "what am I going to do next?" Most of us have our “car guy," and if you don’t, you need to find one. Listen, you have a doctor when you’re sick, you have a CPA to take care of your finances and you go to a dentist if you have issues with your teeth. All of them professionals. Well, you should have a car professional, too. Since maintenance of your vehicles is essential to its longevity and prevents major, catastrophic calamities, I am diligent in taking care of the little things. When is the last time you had the oil changed? If there is a pool of fluid under your car when you park, have you had it taken in to the shop? Why are your brakes squealing? These are just a few of the things you should be aware of and you should take care of these things as soon as you can. Here are a couple of fellas who do exactly that.

Meet Wes and Chris at the Dillingham Midas. They are my car guys. They are the ones I call when I need that inevitable guidance and assistance. So, who are your guys? Get some peace of mind and find one.. You’ll be glad you did!!!!
The threat from North Korea to Hawaii, Guam and, of course, to South Korea is more viable today than ever before. Yes, I know the traditional form of fundraising by NK was to rattle their sabre and obsequious government leaders would rush to give them whatever they wanted as long as they promised not to do anything drastic. Well, now that NK has a new leader, we find ourselves in uncharted territory. Kim Jong Un now has to deliver on all his bellicose language and threats. If he does not, then he will be perceived as weak or a fraud. That’s not the way to build an individual identity you want the world and your own people to view you or your position. Un must do something. That’s the tough part about this latest round of threats.
Hi guys,
As you know, I’ve been chatting with you for the past several weeks about just how much of a difference it's been since I signed up for the primo Road Runner internet package from Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
If you have not given a call to them for this enhanced service....you simply must. I am an online guy. The majority of my show prep is done online and many of the elements I use on the air are audio from online sources. But, I’m also an online auction guy. You know, where you bid on items a penny at a time. I can’t tell you how many items I’ve bought for pennies on the dollar that really make a difference for me. I am an Oakley shades fan and the pair of Radar’s that I had inexplicably went missing. I think they’re with that lone sock that always seems to escape. Well, instead of paying hundreds of dollars to replace them, I went to my favorite auction site, placed my bids and won an auction for a pair of Oakleys that retail for $169 and got them for less than $3. Yes, two bucks and change. I wouldn’t be able to do this without the speed of my Oceanic Time Warner internet service. Oh, and there are so many examples of how it helps me everyday....I’ll tell you about those a bit later.
Tiger Woods in number one in the world of professional golf which means all is right in the world. Earlier today, he won the Bayhill in Orlando, FL which, as Arnie’s tournament, is considered to be the fifth major on tour. Of course, Nicklaus may argue the Memorial fits that billing. Yes, I know Tiger had his personal issues not too long ago, but I'm not a fan based on whether or not he is faithful to his wife. I’m a fan of good golf. No, of great golf and Woods is the epitome of contemporary golf excellence. He has endured debilitating injuries, the reconstruction of his swing and, of course, scandal. But, he persevered and now sits atop the rankings in both player and FedEx Cup. Oh, by the way, the FedEx is worth a cool $10 million to the winner at the end of the year. Tiger is understandably excited, but there’s one guy who is out of his mind..his caddy. Caddies will usually be paid a flat rate plus a percentage of winnings. That rate could be anywhere from 10% to 20% of what a player earns. Tiger has already won three times on tour (the PGA) to the tune of about $4 million in prize money. At a 15% rate, his caddy stands to earn about $600,000 and it’s only March! Nice gig, if you can get it....
There have been several disaster movies portending the end of the world compliments of some rouge asteroid or similar space missile.
But, there is now a concerted effort to more diligently track these potentially devastating projectiles. NASA and other respected organizations are stepping up efforts to identify, track
And report on possible threats to our planet. We have already seen a meteor strike in Russia and, by astronomical standards, a couple close calls with asteroids whizzing by Earth.
So, why the uptick in this celestial activity? The answer is obvious. It’s George W. Bush’s fault. Well, this has been the explanation for what ails America and why the USA is mocked and marginalized around the world. Oh, and he’s also responsible for the common cold, traffic on the H-1 and the reason why “Arrested Development” was cancelled. Tongue in cheek, yes. But, you have to admit, when it comes to this administration, The Bush Factor has been a centerpiece of the administration and Democrat congressional leadership’s Alfred E. Neuman-esque rationale for our challenging condition. C’mon, can’t you guys do any better?
There was a ton going on today I hope you had the chance to tune in...
Chris Coughlin (C2 of Duffy Soapbox) was his amazing self, as usual. We have been, by his calculation, on the air together for the past 6 years. Holy smokes! If you have not checked out www.duffysoapbox.com, you are truly missing out. Chris is one of those rare cats who is able to take highly-complicated events and comprehensively explain the details and implications in a way that doesn’t cause you to scarf down handfuls of No-Doz. You really must read his latest posting acknowledging the much-maligned 42nd president was, in fact, instrumental in preparing us for the situation in North Korea. Peace through strength.
Our state debt is insurmountable under present leadership and similar mentality in the future. That’s why it’s maddening to see such hoarding of taxpayer money in a network of 186 Special Funds in excess of $1.4 Billion. Oh, by the way, at the issuance of this Grassroot Institute report, this is all excess money not spent by the government. So, why hoard? I guess it’s the department’s personal rainy day fund...We’ll have more on this tomorrow...
